Review

Nancy Springer is a great author. I loved her Enola Holmes series. She has a knack for writing strong, spunky female characters. Jamie Bridger is no exception. Since this book is a mystery, it is more difficult to review because you don't want to spoil anything for the reader. Fourteen-year-old Jamie lives in a small town in Pennsylvania with her grandparents. She has no idea who her parents are and every time she tries to ask her grandparents, she is shut out. Her grandmother claims she can't remember and her grandfather just gets mad. But then her grandfather dies and the will he left gives her a few clues. After that, Jamie is off and running in pursuit of her parents. And she does, eventually, find the answers she has been looking for though they aren't at all what she expected. I loved the character of Jamie - her persistence in trying to unravel the lies and secrets that had been such a major part of her life for so long. And I liked the quirky characters that Springer sprinkles throughout to help Jamie solve her mystery.
