It was still early days in Hailey's writing career and his big blockbusters were yet to come. This one is about the inner workings of a hospital. The medical research is certainly dated but the major issues of medical ethics and accountability of doctors for wrong decisions are as relevant today as ever.Doctors can make errors which can have catastrophic consequences for patients. Just such an ageing,obstinate doctor is at the centre of the action. It isn't Hailey's most compelling book but is still a solid medical thriller. I read it a long time before watching endless episodes of Grey's Anatomy. With a few tweaks here and there,this could actually make for an interesting episode of a TV medical show.
