My first Shiloh Walker, and it won't be my last! What a perfect combo of tough, bada$$ alpha and tender, teddy bear protector Decker was...by far the best thing about this story! He picked his woman a long time ago, and even though he was the kid from the wrong side of the tracks and never felt good enough for Lizzie, he still loved her from afar and defended her when she needed him most. The sad part is that Decker's protectiveness was a bit too fierce, and he's been in prison for seven years. He and Lizzie kept in touch through weekly letters, but Decker's secret love for the sweet Lizzie was too little too late. Lizzie's been with Noel for a few years now, and we the readers get to realize what a complete and total tool he is pretty much from the start. An open relationship? Seriously? So yeah, when Lizzie confides to Decker just how her man wants their relationship to go, his protectiveness proves his devotion again. Lizzie deserves better than that, and he's done watching her from a distance. This was....so hot...once we got to the meat of the story. Not over the top for the amount of page time, either. Just right. I loved how Lizzie has this bombshell body (size fourteen) and Decker loves it. I hate, hate, hate when a book talks about a woman having some hips and butt, and then goes on to talk about their size eight jeans. That's NOT a butt, mnkay? Maybe on someone who's five foot nothing. So it was refreshing to get a realistically shaped heroine...even a touch on the plump side. A short read, I did feel like I needed more page time in order to really fall for the characters, but there was also a lot packed into this eighty-something page story, and other than it's length, I wouldn't change a thing. Now I need to go read some more Shiloh Walker...this was the perfect taste!Advance copy provided for review
