The short prequel that tells the story of young Elizabeth (Lizzie) and how her mother is forced to leave Lizzie in a Catholic orphanage. She forms a special bond with young novice Cecilia who shares her love for reading. After reading this introduction I can't wait to start reading the novel "Jack" to find what becomes of Lizzie after she flees the orphanage dressed as a boy.(Funny how a beautiful written review left on another writers book made me curious to go to this person's Good Reads page only to discover she is an author too! THAT is how you discover little treasures.)
